This is may annoy a few people, but if you booked a holiday away this summer you must have known you were doing so at a risk.

There is a global pandemic on and restrictions have been on and off for months.

If you took the risk, it's not on someone else to bail you out.
Just because you were able to book it doesn't mean it was risk free, the insurance companies might cover the your holiday costs, but everything else is on you.
My insurance company sent me a letter telling me as much back in March.. Saying that they can't guarantee cover for holidays booked after the foreign office changed their advice on the 6th March.. Which I thought was fair enough.
Now there is an argument that the government encouraged it, but you'll have to be pretty ignorant of the situation (and missed the three months where it was illegal to leave your house) to not understand the risk.
