It is interesting how liberated I felt getting to know my ex- is in a new relationship.
First I thought knowing she is under somebody else's wings now removed a hidden fragment of care that was still there unbeknownst to me.
...

Then I realized: what got purged was a lingering sense of guilt (that I was unaware of) for leaving her, "pushing her back to the wilderness" letting her struggle with her inadequacies and fending for herself alone.

But now, knowing that nothing about her further life is under my direct or indirect influence anymore it seems my subconscious absolved my conscience to come clean.

Funny how thoughts and emotions can still work in the background hidden from the mind like bowels & circulation do
