abt how cis Blk wmn will literally wave their & #39;femaleness& #39; in trans wmn& #39;s faces as proof tht we are the & #39;right& #39; kind of woman - a qualifier tht we must pay attn to. the distinction trans wmn & their allies are trying to make (in this phase of the discourse) 2/
is that both transphobia & anti-Blkness are found in 1) using a measuring stick of womanhood to assume higher status over other wmn, & another marginalized group @ tht 3/
& 2) the measuring stick tht& #39;s being used has its foundations in an anti-Blk, anti-LGBT history. You cannot use the master& #39;s tools to break your way into the master& #39;s house, mostly bc, as acknowledged here, white supremacy doesn& #39;t & #39;want& #39; Blk femininity - 4/

the frustrating thing abt this critique is the unspoken acknowledgment tht femininity is a means for wmn to access care, empathy, etc. 6/
it seems there& #39;s a misunderstanding happening somewhere that telling cis Blk wmn tht we don& #39;t fit into white supremacist defs of femininity is meant to like, snatch away ppl& #39;s dream of being feminine 7/
(side note: ppl in the pro trans camp may use really inflamitory language w you on this issue & make it sound like they ARE trying to snatch your dreams away. they are trolling you for being annoying)
the point is tht you& #39;re supposed to question your reasons for wanting into this club tht reqs you to adopt a relationship to gender where access to humanity (a social concept tht has a white supremacist history in itself) & respect is gained according to the master& #39;s rules 8/
are we on the same page abt why white wmn receive a lvl of care tht we don& #39;t? what does the (cis) Blk wmn achieve by mirroring the & #39;right& #39; kind of wmnhood? when you fail to achieve it, what/who has been failed? who are you asking to be seen by, protected by? 9/
idk how to articulate this last part, but i feel like my relationship to wmnhood & femaleness has fallen apart bc the access tht i can earn thru performing femininity is not something i need, nor am willing to submit my self to. 10/
i dont accept the view tht i can evade death or violence by becoming useful or desirable. palatability is another thing. but i believe tht using my femininity as means to gain protection is the biggest trap. /11
(2nd side note: to clarify, i am not critiquing the act of performing femininity on its own. this thread is abt how we should critically examine the puritanical belief tht (cis) Blk wmn need femininity to gain protection, which then gives way to conservative views abt gender.)
