Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
A Doctor of Philosophy is the highest university degree that is conferred after a course of study as approved by the university Senate after a Viva or examination by external examiners in most countries.
But PhD is not same as common sense...

PhD is not same as knowing everything...It is knowing so much about a special area. For Example PhD in Organic Chemistry with specialization in synthesis. Such an awardee is not an expert even in every field of Organic Chemistry, but only in Synthesis. Same can be said of others.

A PhD holder is expected to be vast when he speaks on his area of research...but not when he speaks on issues of life, economics, security, education, finance, health, IT, sport, religion, family, automobile, infrastructure, policy, politics and so on...

A PhD holder will be vast in all area of life if and only if he reads about them...A PhD holder in Nanotechnology will talk rubbish about history, if he doesn't read about it. As well as in any field...

So, it is not unfortunate when tweeps with various PhD titles say somethings an ordinary Grade12 candidate should not have said. Yes! because they do not know about it.
Some PhD do not know the importance of @MBuhari 's visit to Mali while killings in Northern Nigeria goes on.

It takes someone who have read about the proliferation of borders and effect of trans border crime to know why it was important to get peace in Mali. It takes some who have read to know that moving from Mali to Sokoto is shorter than Sokoto to Lagos...Knowledge is not about PhD

Scholastic Prowess of course is about PhD, which is not the same as knowing every issue of life as regards the economy and politics of any Nation. The best Leaders in history are no PhD holders as several PhD holders have grown to become great leaders as well as bad leaders.

It is becoming obvious that so many who have been accorded several respect because they have a PhD in their field of study do not really deserve so much of such respect outside the walls of their classrooms, research laboratory and so on. Because outside of that, they are stupid

They make comments on issues and one will imagine if the person is really a PhD holder...
Some has even grown in the academic world to becoming a Professor, which is the highest academic rank in the University system.

But when they talk outside of their field, they can be compared to someone who hasn't heard about education. While same can not be said of most of them, who do not assume they know everything because of the PhD or the Professorial rank...They study to make themselves approved.

When one is conferred a PhD, it doesn't confer "Know All" status....I will hence encourage all Nigerian at home & abroad on Jack's app with a PhD to beware of making unguided accretions which will undermine their academic qualification. I so submit. Cheers
