Random rant for kiddies who got done with 12th or even 10th and wanna take up psychology as their major.
Disclaimer: this is my personal observation in my own course, I might he wrong on all levels possible and you won& #39;t find a proven study about this anywhere.

First of all, psychology is a vast subject, I studied just mental illnesses, personality disorders, psychosexual analysis, cognitive behavioral development and everything under this radar. Which is like 30-40% of the subject. There& #39;s even specified studies.
So from what Ive observed in class:
Firstly, those with the slightest symptoms of depression, anxiety, hallucinations, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) caused by abuse, accidents, close losses, an event/experience that you had

Or are just mentally low. Simply, just mentally low; you guys need to be aware of yourselves. You need to be clear with your own self before you start studying a psyche of a human brain, personality, moods, etc. Because in the due course of your studies, you can either go 2 ways
One, where you get hypertension because of Hypochondriasis - an illness anxiety disorder. You know those people who have a head ache and will go on google, search about will and will conclude that they have brain tumor? That& #39;s Hypochondriasis.
And I believe it also applies for mental health. One might read into symptoms that they study of these mental illnesses and conclude that they have it too, even though there& #39;s a chance that they might not which further develops into an actual mental illness. It becomes a circle.
So you need to be aware of yourselves. If you& #39;ll be able to take the pressure of delving into the human mind and personality and all that without letting it affect you gravely. You& #39;ll have case studies, gorey stories of instances and all that. You might be mentally perfect
But once you& #39;re faced with it, it& #39;ll ruin your peace. And another way the peer might go would be to develop a sound mind. Empathy, controlled behaviour/reactions to the things they& #39;ve been told, you might become ace with the subject. I study from the perspective of a social work
Counsellor or a therapist. So having a controlled response to your client is important. And that is developed while you study. You have to learn to not get personally involved with your client, as in get emotionally involved because the first step is building trust, and when
The trust is built, the client or patient will cent percent get attached to you. And they will consider you family, because you& #39;re aware of the darkest parts of their minds. But you CAN NOT get attached. At all. Because if you do, your treatment plan will go for a toss
You need to have trust, empathy, sympathy, understanding, an ability to be unearthed by the things your told, you need to understand emotions but RECIPROCATING, CONNECTING and creating a BOND more than that of a counsellor-counselee IS NOT ALLOWED.
For that, during your course
For that, during your course
Of study, you need to become unfazed. Strengthen your minds. Because then you become biased and your skill as a therapist is good for nothing. So remember. SELF-AWARENESS, being aware of strengths and weaknesses is so important. Mental balance is so important.
So keep this in mind.
That& #39;s all for
