Skinny Shaming is not the same as Fat Shaming. A thread:
Skinny shaming is not okay; it is still hurtful. It is not okay to comment on anyone's physical appearance. I do not condone skinny shaming. This is to point out y they are not the same even though they might hurt the same

1) "Skinny" is the norm in our society. Skinny bodies are celebrated by the media in a way fat bodies aren't. When a fat woman wears something a skinny person is wearing, she is shamed while the skinny woman is praised.

2) "Fat" is used as an insult to a woman because apparently, it's the worst thing a woman can be. A fat person is deemed "unhealthy" even though they work out and live a healthy lifestyle while a skinny person's health is never questioned. https://www.tiktok.com/@lizzo/video/6836454688003607813
3) A skinny person is seen as "quirky" when they say they eat 3 burgers every day. Their health is never questioned because being skinny is seen as being healthy. While if a fat person simply posts a picture, they get hundreds of comments telling them to workout.
4) Losing weight is seen as an accomplishment even if it happens because of health issues. How many times have you been congratulated on losing weight after being sick? I know way too many people who have.
5) While people telling you to "eat more" can be annoying and hurtful at times, you are not demonized by the media. Fat people are called lazy and disgusting just for the way they look. They are expected to wear certain clothes to hide their "imperfections" +
A skinny woman is seen as the epitome of health and perfection while a fat woman is seen as a lazy, disgusting person who cannot stop eating. Imagine being called disgusting over something you can't really even control sometimes.
When I say skinny, I do not mean people struggling with anorexia and/or other eating disorders. Skinny shaming sucks and it is hurtful and I wish no one was shamed for the way they look but it is not the same as fat-shaming and it never will be.
