🗑️ : Study tips !
— a thread
as a dumb person who survived four years of getting actual good grades, I've used some methods that were pretty effective when it came to studying.

Disclaimer: Some might be those what you call 'forcing yourself to study' method. Not really prescribed but it worked for me? anw
𝟬𝟭: 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀

this requires atleast two or three colored pens, markers, or highlighters and actual patience.

When you do notes or reviewers, used multicolored pens especially with terminologies and alternatively change colors per terms or per factors +
I used this method for a few times (Few bc i was lazy when it came to doing reviewers) and it actually worked. I remembered most of the things I highlighted.

I recommend you to use vibrant colors and not light or pastel ones.
𝟬𝟮: 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀

I used this method for atleast a year and it was quite well.

I easily get tired when rewriting notes for reviewers and I don't have that much colored pens so I decided to encode the reviewers instead lol

++
this is technically the same with the method before this. I prefer this over the first one bc I don't have that much pens, my hands get sweaty (occasionally), my hand writing isn't THAT neat and consistent.

Plus I think I'd use this more today bc things are going online lol
𝟬𝟯: 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀

I do this most of the time. Some say its too much for my brain to handle which is honestly TRUE.

a. Prepare an index card or anything you can write on and list the terms you need to define — this is lowkey a one-way ticket to hell.
b. If you do reviewers and thought of self tests beforehand: Divide your paper into two parts. One part for the terms and one for definition. Once you're up for self tests, fold the terms' side outward or cover the said side.

NEVER put definitions on the terms' side.

sample:
i dont actually know if u understood the term — definiton thing but ok moving on
𝟬𝟰: 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀

Some people get the wrong concept for keywords by actually cutting out words (yes including me 🤡)

Usually the actual keywords apply in science (yk biology, earth sci etc.) like: Crater — opening, Magma — still inside smth like that
+++ but for other subjects, its better if you encapsulate the thought rather than remembering THE actual words.
𝟬𝟱: 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀

LOL THIS WORKS 75% FOR ME BUT I THINK THIS WONT WORK FOR ME NOW SINCE WE'RE GOING ONLINE ;( rip me

Anyways, one of the best & effective method for me is reviewing other people — like a q&a portion perhaps.
𝟬𝟲: 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

No this is not read the lesson before the teacher actually teaches the lesson 😿. Review days prior to the exam! preferably a week or two.

This way, you wont cram the night before the exam and it would just be a recapitulation.
tw // mentioning food
𝟬𝟳: 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀

When it comes to food, I go for nuts and sunflower seeds bc they're effective for me. Chocolates make me feel sleepy thus sites say chocolate boosts energy. Its better if you discover what food or snack helps put all that shit in ur brain
𝟬𝟴: 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁

Usually, I tend to cram studying lessons the nigt before the exam leading to a sleepless night which is why advance studying is important

Don't force yourself when it comes to reviewing. Nothing comes to ur brain if you're sleepy.
𝟬𝟵: 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰

If you're cramming, a way to add energy and remember things is to add music (tho it is no applicable to all of us). I prefer alive ones over mellow songs.

Shameless plug but heres a sample of what song I use to not have sleeping urges.
𝟭𝟬: 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀

It is important to have a table or study desk where you can do reviewing. I suggest you to NOT do you're reviewing on the bed or near the bed or anyplace where you'd have unwanted urges. It's also a factor to have none pastel colored surroundings ++
++ Like light pink, blue etc bc they make you feel sleepy (fact). Make sure you only have your notes, pens, books or the thing you need in general. Remove possible distractions and make sure you have everything to avoid going around and wasting time
𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 !
♡. Preferably use neon highlighters for reviewers and not the pastel ones. They're more lively

♡. Turn off your wifi

♡. Sitting down with your feet on the ground will help you remain awake. Dont lie down or put your feet up. Weird but it works
♡. Uninstall twitter! UNINSTALL UR SOCIALS & GAMES OR HIDE THEM

♡. Don't get urself too much coffee. It's basically an unhealthy gesture.

♡. Another way to avoid feeling sleepy is to walk around while reviewing.
♡. Since you have quite some during ecq, try determining which method suits you or determine your own method. Nothing hurts if you do some research for things. These are some of the things I find effective for me but maybe not for you.

♡. 'Masterize not memorize'
♡. Things to determine:
-Suitable environment (noisy or not)
-Snacks (if u need/not, what snack)
-Ways to remember (colorful notes, singing ,self tests etc)
-Music (can you review with music, what genre)
-schedules (can your brain handle cramming or needs reviewing beforehand)
I recommend self tests, advanced studying and reviewing since I find them very effective.

That's pretty much it for this thread. You can add some or suggest some that I or anyone can try.
