The African Union had better start reflecting on it's future before another AU member state is wiped out of existence. If Africa stands by in docilty and folds it's arms then the next question we should be asking is who is next after Libya? This is not conjecturing but factual.
In Syria 64 of the world's most powerful countries Including the United States, France, Russia, Britain, Iran and Turkey began fighting for control. Like Libya NATO was forced to intervene because of Assad's heavy handed crackdown on protesters. What happened in Libya
Was about to be replicated in Syria. Russia's President Vladimir Putin had seen what happened to Libya and was not gonna let it happen to it's ally Syria, the only country in the Middle East Russia maintains a naval base. When Assad's defeat imminent Russia intervened
In the most dramatic of fashion. Russian warplanes bombed rebel positions, stopping the militants advance on Damascus on its track. In response U.S President approved $500 million to train and equip "moderate terrorists" in their bid to take down the central government.
In the eyes of the West Assad was the evil incarnate and the terrorists, who are burning people alive in cages, decapiting their captives killing Christians and destroying 2,000 year old historic sites are nothing more than freedom fighters. With Russia now involved
Turkey smashed into the scene. Turkish F-16s shot down two Russian SU-25 fighters. Russia responded by deploying SU-24 Fullback fighters to Syria, warning Turkey of dire consequences. The $500 million to train "moderate terrorists" yielded results as ISIS smashed into Iraq
, taking the city of Mosul and hundreds of American armoured vehicles and tanks left behind by fleeing Iraqi soldiers. F-/A 18 fighters from the carrier USS Roosevelt in the Mediterranean began massive airstrikes on ISIS, stopping the Jihadi group on their tracks.
Then Iran gets involved, supply arms to various factions. Then Russia, in a bid to market its new stealth aircraft deploy a dozen SU-57 stealth fighters to Syria..hoping to attract buyers. In response the United States deploy its own F-22 stealth fighters to Syria.
..and deploy 300 Marines to secure Syria's oil fields.....The saga continues. It is clear that Russia, France, the United States and Turkey view Syria as little more than a convenience store of labour and resources to advertise their war machine. That was Syria.
The very same players - ISIS, France, Russia, Turkey and the United States have all moved from Syria to Libya and once again doing exactly what they were doing in Syria. What are the odds that coincidentally they all relocated to Libya after leaving Syria in ruins.
Once again Turkey, France, Russia and the U.S are at loggerheads, battling for control and influence, forging one alliances after another and telling the African Union to stay out of it. To put things into perspective, just 24 hours the U.S military accused Russia
..of sending weapons, including anti-aircraft missiles to Libya and sending Russian mercenaries to operate on the frontline of the conflict. Russia in response called out the hypocrisy by pointing out Turkish sale of armed drones to one of the waring factions.
Just 72 hours ago France, Russia and Turkey in a rare united front warned Egypt not to send forces to Libya, calling the Egyptian move to secure its perimeter illegitimate.
We can see clearly that the Russian Federation, the United States, France and Turkey are actively providing military equipment and fighters to the frontlines. Using the country as a testing ground to sell new weapons and force alliances
Again as was the case in Syria the U.S has accused Moscow of using a Russian mercenary outfit known as the Wagner Group to fight the civil war as part of efforts to extend Russian interest in oil rich Libya and establishing a presence on NATO's southern flank.
Russia and Turkey are using proxies to establish a long term presence in North Africa. France on its part is attempting to gain a foothold in Libya. They have alrwady secured a foothold in West Africa. There are 2,500 Russian mercenaries operating in Libya.
Yesterday the Pentagon released sattelite imagery showing Russian cargo planes supplying Russian mercenaries as well as SA-22 air defence missile systems.
There are 3,800 Syrian fighters paid by the Turksih government and given a promise of Turkish citizenship have joined of GNA rebels. Meanwhile we have the French backed Hatfar rebels deploying land mines in an attempt to slow down the advance of Turkish backed GNA rebels.
All of this is playing out right under the nose of the United Nations. Human Right Groups have been quiet, turning a blind eye..but instead they have encamped in Jos, paying hotel bills for a year at a time. It's easy to see why they will not antagonize their donors.
First Iraq, then Syria, the Libya. With Libya so close to home who is next? The citizens of these countries enjoy a very high standard of living. They don't have to worry about where the next meal will come from or being hit by stray bullets or being blown to beats
They enjoy the dignity of life, and here they are in an already impoverished continent selling weapons to various groups so they can continue the slaughter themselves. They destabilize an entire continent. They covertly fund terrorist groups to keep the fighting running.
The big powers are struggling because of this. The Egyptians are dealing with militants in the Sinai peninsula, in Nigeria Boko Haram, the Kenyans are coming to grip with al-shahab terrorists. This has to be the saddest chapter in the modern history of Africa.
