what wilbur was saying about cancel culture is something i agree wholeheartedly on. some people aren’t educated on certain words that are considered slurs, and you shouldn’t cancel them for being uneducated, educate them instead. when i was younger, around 11 or 12 i think, 1/?
my mom was saying the n word and i think i asked her what it meant. she said something along the lines of “it just means friend.” and she said i could say it. i almost did, but i stopped myself because i didn’t feel comfortable. i believed what she said, though, about it 2/?
meaning friend, until i saw a few posts talking about the n word and saying the meaning behind it and who could and couldn’t say it. those posts help educate me, and i know it isn’t an acceptable thing as a white person to say. some people sadly don’t know about that, though. 3/?
about the n word and other slurs. so that’s why instead of automatically cancelling some people, we should realize that they might not know that it’s a slur, and help educate them. wilbur got educated, minx got educated, and i got educated about slurs, so try to help educate 4/?
people who unknowingly said a slur when they didn’t realize it was a slur instead of just automatically cancelling them and try ruining there career. if they refuse to educate themselves, or know it’s a slur and doesn’t care, you sadly really can’t don’t anything about that 5/?
