Good evening everyone , I will talk about monkeys and the utility for monkeys using classic school of economics thought when it comes to rationality as monkeys tend to avoid being rational in my opinion https://twitter.com/madammissile_/status/1287152487695364096
Now, according to the law regarding the classical school of economics, rationality is what we expect , wether it be humans or apes or monkeys .rationality is a principle all beings have. Now monkeys tend to have similar relatives, apes , gorrilas, nukhba, orangutans, Ali
Bonnie etc but lets focus on the monkey, a monkey does not act rational for eg when deciding food or comfort the rational thing according to economics is food but it chooses comfort ( Harlow's monkeys psych study) because food is a need and comfort and heat is more of a luxery
Now lets use the diagram of diminishing marginal utility, when the monkey chooses the warmth instead of the food after it gets enough heat it eventually preferred food because of the diminishing utility or pleasure it gets from the comfort ,source bellow the curve is steepening
This evidently shows that once a monkey decides that it's kind of not needed for the monkey for comfort it's utility drops for the comfort and increases for the food . Which shows that economics may be applied to monkeys in some cases.
