A brief overview of my views on the dichotomy between the 'whore' and 'maiden' archetype, partially inspired by tweets by @SweetQueenAnna and general observations about the nature of women.

Georges Dumézil was a French Philologist and originator of the trifunctional hypothesis, the claim that most of European society stems from a similar division in society to the Hindu caste system.

Just as the Hindu caste system divides people into three broad castes: Brahmins (Priests), Kshatriyas (Warriors/Rulers), and Vaishayas (Merchants/Traders) we can observe that Europe also held similar roles.

The shield-maidens of Norse Paganism, or the Vestal Virgins of Roman Paganism represent the archetypal "virgin" or "maiden" character; mirroring the Brahmin caste of modern Hinduism. These are pure virgins, a true and pure expression of the innocence of femininity.

The mother archetype refers to the most common substratum of women. While these women are not entirely pure like the above, they are not whores and they will have sex with a single man. They represent the purest expression of femininity (care for their children).

And finally, the most controversial is the whore archetype. Like the Vaishayas, these people exchange their bodies for fame or wealth. In the modern day these are also people like Instagram influencers, celebrities, prostitutes, etc.

It is important to remember that the 'whore' archetype is the most controversial and misunderstood, but it is not a pejorative. Whores are necessary for a functional society in a way, even great Christian saints like Aquinas recommended their legalisation and empowerment.

However, we must understand that the function of a whore is not holiness nor motherhood. They are a profaning and inversion of the virgin archetype, and they have lost their ability to pair-bond. Their value in society is their sexuality, and the true and raw expression of it.

Society functions when the three archetypes in a trifunctional hypothesis exist; for example society naturally is led by Kshatriyas; a society like America which is led by the Vashiyas will inevitably collapse. Similarly so, when the third caste try to adopt motherhood and purity
