they can sue the hell out of the original leakers but that isnt gonna erase the source code from everyones hard drives that already have them, and any potential online redistributions of the files lol. what they get for holding their old games hostage (and being a corporation)

plus theyre gonna be fine for real, there have been decompiles and source code leaks before, i swear they are not gonna go out of business because some ass-old game they dont rerelease at all anyway got its source code leaked

2. it was already bad for fans with nintendos shit practices with preserving media and destroying fan works. cant get much worse lol

companies like id even (not excusing any poor practices of their own) have open-sourced their older game engines so people can port to new systems as they please as long as they have a legal copy of the game content (cough freedoom and librequake cough)

nintendo has no excuses holding their old software hostage in hopes of rereleasing it on modern consoles digital only and even cracking down on people just reselling their old games. its disgusting. triple a games industry as a whole is a mess and nintendo isnt excused.

also wanna point out the duder argued that this is somehow BAD for game preservation. ok what else you want us to do, ask mr nintendo nicely to basically make a goldmine of nostalgia/scarcity marketing free and open source themselves?
