I'm gonna level with you, in March I was just a podcaster and data dude with an opinion. Now, I've heard from doctors, epidemiologists, state, local and federal officials, journalists etc. I'm telling you the data you're seeing on Twitter is better and that's why they're using it
There is a lot of great work being done by researchers out here right now that is now being looked at by media and all levels of government. It's because even qualified experts have been lazy and ignorant on this virus. It's been eye opening to hear stories.
I am not joking, these are all blue checkmark epidemiologist/virologist types: in this epidemic, one didn't know where to find state CASE data; another didn't know some states reported ICU data found on CTP; a third didn't know state death reports weren't by date of death.
Being in a field of study doesn't inherently make your opinion better than others who aren't, and it definitely doesn't make you right.
