Thread: We must defend the FBI.

FBI agents do not pledge allegiance to the President. Their oath is to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” and to “bear true faith and allegiance to the same.” https://twitter.com/timothydsnyder/status/1284545327501115392
The FBI’s mission statement is based on the oath they pledge:

“To protect the American people and uphold the Constitution of the United States.”

Simple and clear. They are here to protect *us* from *any* attack on the Constitution, including one from the President himself.
Every man and woman working at the FBI has sworn to protect you and me should anyone, including the President, try to undo the Constitution and become an authoritarian, especially if that person is compromised by a foreign power.

That’s the FBI’s job. That’s what they do.
So, yes, the FBI has been engaged in a counterintelligence investigation into Trump and his ties to Russia. And, yes, they took steps to prevent the target of that investigation, who happens to be the President, from being aware of and/or able to shut down their investigation.
Did you really think the FBI was going to let Trump know he was under a counterintelligence investigation into his ties, including his financial ties, to Russia? Did you really think they were going to let us know? That’s not how counterintelligence investigations work.
Counterintelligence investigations are clandestine investigations. The FBI never tells people they are targets of counterintelligence investigations. And they sure as hell didn’t tell Trump he was under investigation, nor did they give him a way to shut them down.
The counterintelligence investigation was planned to be covert and unstoppable.

We have McCabe, Baker, Page, Strzok, and Priestap to thank for the plan. And that is the group Trump will continue to attempt to discredit.

The FBI defended us.

It’s our turn to defend the FBI.
