There are few tenets in my life that I hold as strongly as I do fairness. I am deliberate about practicing it, and I expect in return. This disappointment in other humans is my daily downfall.

Thus- the news every day from our political “leaders” and Covid statistics, anti-masxxkers, people being generally hateful... it’s really draining.

This level of exasperation is not tenable. 2020 is damn exhausting.

I wear a mask. I return my grocery carts. I show up on time. I flush the toilet. I recycle. I pick up and dispose of my dog’s shit. I respect 6’ of space. I wash my hands. I wait my turn. Some of y’all ignored kindergarten and it shows.

I always keep the sound off on my phone. I wear deodorant. I vaccinate. I use turn signals. I EVEN COURTESY WAVE. I never FaceTime without permission. I don’t care if you return my texts, on time or otherwise.

I pick up after myself. I say please and thank you. I don’t use the middle seat armrests (unless I am the middle occupant). I never even recline my damn airplane seat. I don’t stand at the edge of the luggage carousel, waiting for my bag. I absolutely never fart.

I don’t demand all of these in return, but damn, I wish you would.
