Opinion: Driving to church needs to become the exception, rather than the rule. https://twitter.com/FrPeterAnthony/status/1286969828553760768">https://twitter.com/FrPeterAn...
I know, easy to tweet, more difficult for churches and people who have got used to driving. And yes, some people have to. But for all kinds of reasons I think the church needs to do way more on this issue. Climate, pollution, accident risk, severing communities, and more.
This is a useful thread on the social justice aspects of driving, and our car-centred society: https://twitter.com/susancashmere/status/1286225050425753600">https://twitter.com/susancash...
I should say at this point: I& #39;m a hypocrite on this front. I go to a church 14 miles away, and whilst I usually catch the train I do sometimes drive. Laziness, low morale, or disorganisation. I& #39;d just like someone in church circles to tell me this isn& #39;t OK.
Summary. I’d quite like churches to do more to promote active travel. And see transport as an ethical/ social justice issue.
