Thread. @senatemajldr is willing to stress out over 11% of the workforce (more due to 1.4 million newly unemployed last week) because he doesn’t want poor people to make more money ($600/week PUA) on unemployment than they can make at a job, many of whom work for poverty wages.1/
That’s despite the fact that there’s approximately ONE job for every 5 people who are unemployed. So 4 out of those 5 people can’t find a job in our current economic climate. This is in addition to an uncontrolled Pandemic going on. More people are losing their jobs every week 2/
It seems the @GOP doesn’t think people have very good memories & will forget the harm they caused in about 100 days, when we vote. No one who has lost their home or apartment will forget. Many of us won’t forget the absolute GLEE shown for the #taxcutscam, benefitting the 1%. 3/
While the @GOP is dithering about as @SenSchumer put it, MILLIONS of the PPP, designed to keep small businesses afloat and keep people working went to large companies and FRIENDS of those Republicans who don’t want to pay a few POOR people more than they could make working.
4/

So the @GOP is willing to bend over backwards to save a few million, again torturing poor people (many who are black & brown), while they want to “forgive” all the PPP loans to their rich & powerful friends (some of whom are donors), because poor people don’t matter/donate. 5/
Some other things the @GOP are trying to slip by you, mostly affecting lower income people. @SenatorRomney is trying to slide in a bill that could eviscerate Social Security for way too many. @realDonaldTrump is trying to let the Post Office fail, affecting MILLIONS of people. 6/
So, with this uncertainty going on & a deadline looming, what does @senatemajldr do? He lets the Senate leave! Our country is in a crisis, one that’s getting worse & Senators still get to go home for the weekend! If anyone reading this thread thinks the @GOP cares about you

There is a quote from one of the Star Trek Movies that seems appropriate here.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.
The 1% are the latter in that quote and the rest of the people are the many. Please call/write/email Your Senator this weekend. /end

PS - Yes, I know it’s cheesy quoting a movie. Says it better and in fewer words than anything else I came up with.
