ME, when I see a small child stumbling around and I don’t immediately see their parents near them, so I become that child’s watchful guardian with my eyes, until their parents re-appear.
1. Unattended small children.

2. Watching a stranger’s stuff because they asked if I could watch it for a moment while they ran somewhere.

I don’t know why.

But, those are probably the only two times I’d actually kill someone.
I was dating this girl and we were at the park sitting on this blanket.

And this couple next to us asked if we could watch their stuff for a second while they picked up something from their car.

ME: Copy that. I’ve got your six.
I deadass move my weight to the front of my feet when I’m standing near small kids and I feel like they’re doing something dangerous

so that I can react quickly.

That’s the thing.

The older and more unfun you become, the more you intimately know how tragedy happens fast and how horrible humans don’t need much time.

Another thing at play.

My childhood and teen years are full of stories that, in hindsight,

I honestly can’t believe I escaped them all.
I’m sorry but.

Someone quoted this thread and said

“I don’t look out for any kids that ain’t mine.”

And I guess, congratulations on going to hell?
Last one on this.

But, an overwhelming amount of the responses to this are from teenage Black, brown and Asian retail, restaurant and recreation workers

who high key REALLY be looking out for y’all kids, man, and honestly.
