Look. I understand traumatized Democrats are wary of polls clearly indicating a Biden win in November. Be wary. Vote. But when talking to Republicans remind them how far behind Trump is. Don’t gloat. Just remind them. Express sympathy. Here’s why:
If even a *few* marginal Republicans assume Trump is a lost cause, given how hard it will be to vote this November, they won’t bother. And that will affect a LOT of down ballot races. So do your part. Remind them Trump is a lost cause. Discourage them.
This is what Republicans do to marginal Democratic voters all the time. It’s what they did to Democrats in 2016 when they emphasized Hillary’s poll advantage to convince some voters it was ok to vote third party because Trump couldn’t possibly win. (Cough, Susan Sarandon, cough).
Yeah, it’s voter suppression. It’s politics. Play to win.
