In the 1960s and 1970s, there were Jewish scholars and several Jews who were secretly and openly traveling around Africa researching African Tribes to find out from which tribe they belonged.
“In sub-Saharan Africa, you can find 'Judaic' tribes in Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Uganda, Cameroon, South Africa, Zimbabwe and even in Sao Tome and other countries even Ethiopia and South Africa" Edith Bruder A Jewish Lady and Filmmaker from Europe said.
She and Gavron documented a Sabbath celebrations in remote African villages, they found some Ghanaian Jews practicing circumcision and Jewish-African traditional marriage ceremonies.

She said filming a Sabbath celebration of black Jews left her in tears as she was deeply move.
They even went deep into the villages in filming black Jews preparing their “kosher” meals - in their own tradition, the way the Torah explains it simply- not mixing the meat of the veal with its mother's cow milk
