In the Old Testament, crying over one's sins and begging for forgiveness was unnecessary.

All the sinner had to do was to offer an animal as a sin offering and he went home FREE.

A thread....
Only by DEATH was forgiveness obtained. Either the sinner dies for his sin or else an animal is killed in his place.

It's a legal matter, not an emotional matter.
Ezekiel 18:4
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: *THE SOUL THAT SINNETH, IT SHALL DIE.*

It's the same today. Crying and begging as a means to obtain forgiveness is unnecessary.
Romans 6:23
For THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Death is the only solution. Either the sinner faces eternal death or take Jesus who died in his place as the propitiation for his sin.
You see, sin enters into the very fabric of life and corrupts it that nothing else can deal with it except the sinner dies or exchanges his life for a sinless life.
Blood must be shed.
Your blood or His blood for you.
Because "...without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." (Hebrews 9:22 NIV).

No point asking the sinner to cry for his sins in order to be saved.
No point in the believer trying to obtain forgiveness by begging God for it.
I haven't said you should not be sorry or remorseful if you feel like it, but you must realize that crying in itself contributes NOTHING to your salvation and it is powerless in dealing with the real issue- SIN.
Forgiveness is given once and for all by the sacrifice of Christ.
It is received once and for all by faith in Christ.

Simple!
