Fellow grinders:

We started writing from Alaska, then everywhere but L.A. It took 15yrs to get here. Perfecting our craft and brand along the way. Our first deals were writing from a small town in NY.

Don’t feel hopeless because you “don’t live in L.A.” #screenwriting
I have a job, a family to raise and everything in between. If you don’t think you can have a normal life while writing, refocus. You can. This is about balance and long hours while working hard.

I had a lit manager look at us once in L.A. at lunch and say....
“I don’t rep people from NY. It’s a waste, you have to live in L.A. to be successful.” That told me all I needed to know about him. Maybe you’re just a bad agent because that’s bullcrap.

Now we are here. Doing it. Not in L.A. NEVER allow anyone to take your dream out of focus!
Sure, could some stuff had moved faster if we lived in L.A. Maybe? But this is about giving you hope. It’s not a requirement. You might have to work harder at networking but it will pay off if you do. So, don’t give up.

It’s hard, it’s crazy, it’s exhausting but...dreams are!
