It should be Illegal Actually* for Classics articles to include untranslated sections of Greek and Latin, because it's pretentious and inaccessible, and that's my spicy take du jour.

*the legal ramifications would be me staring coldly at the author for five hours, unblinking
Thread of my favourite elitist responses to this:

Elitist wanker implies, through the incorrect use of quotation marks, that I'm not actually a person
Elitist wanker, in a series of now-deleted tweets, proves that they don't know that Classical Reception exists as a field of study
Elitist wankers flirt obnoxiously in public over discussions of how students (read: me, in this instance) are Just Lazy and too busy talking about """""rights""""" and being PC to engage in scholarship
Not posting the tweet, because they made a fair (although unrelated) point about Anglocentrism, but someone called me an English monoglot, ignoring the WELSH FLAG in my name, which I think is a good example of just wanting to argue and NOT LOOKING AT WHO/WHAT YOU'RE RESPONDING TO
Like, my point here is resolutely not 'all scholarship should be in English,' because that's exclusionary in itself and also racist. My point is very much 'if an article is in English/French/German, then it should include a translation of the texts into English/French/German.'
Elitist wanker is also a sexist wanker. Women in Classics are The Problem, and definitely not just because they won't go out with him.
Elitist wanker thinks women get paid for posting tweets on Twitter dot com. God, I wish we did. It would almost mitigate the risk of encountering people like this.
Honestly, this guy's whole Twitter feed is just him having a hard-on for Ezra Pound, so I think he just wanted an excuse to explore his kink, but still. Asking for accessibility means I hate knowledge, apparently.
I'm starting to think that most of these people are just thinly veiled incels, hiding behind Classics to explain why they're still mad that Bethany turned them down for a date in year 9
