Reflecting @KaySocLearn I do want to point out that *I* feel some guilt for raising this again. When we were having this discussion yesterday I was called out for making it about 'tone'. The thing is that tone *is* important, especially when talking about difficult subjects.
Maybe the OPs tweet wasn't an explicit invitation for someone to flesh out the rhetoric with an account of lived experience - but I went for it. Being met with 'And?' *feels* like a complete rejection of my experience. I use feels deliberately.
The way this conversation played out makes me realise again how robust one must be to share lived experience as it can so swiftly be brought down and stamped out as irrelevant. It was suggested that my position means I lack credibility - this also *feels* like such condemnation.
I definitely don't stand to gain followers when I raise these things, in fact, I stand to lose them. Or at least that is how it always *feels* when drawing attention to the nature of power in discussions on these platforms.
