a little rant about school teachers:

teachers at my school would announce the marks while giving back our answer sheets. it made so many students anxious and they never gave a fuck because according them, announcing marks would motivate the “weak” students to perform better (1/n
first off, there’s no such thing as a weak student. no student is weak, they could be struggling that does not make them weak. when a teacher calls a student weak, it only states that they’re hopeless in the teacher’s eyes.
every student is allowed to grow on their own pace (2/n)
marks don’t decide a student’s capability and teachers judging them for that makes it even worse.
their peers bully them, call them names, sometimes even stop supporting them; all because a teacher decided to damage the student’s self esteem because they didn’t score enough (3/n)
and the weird part is that, i never realised this back when i was in school. i only realised it when i became a teacher and i had 35 students to look after, to cater their needs, to support them in every possible way. (4/n)
a teacher is someone that the students look up to the most, especially in their primary years. remember how you would blush around your teachers and crave for their attention? they impact us the most in our primary developing years. now imagine them being cruel to you. (5/n)
i understand a teacher has a lot on their plate, there’s a lot of pressure on them. the school expects them to maintain a certain average score and in order to maintain that, they are often unkind to their struggling students because they think that’d make them score more (6/n)
i might’ve been an average teacher, idk, but what i do know is that i werent like the i had in my school and i’m proud of that.

also, if you’re in school, try to be kind to your peers. help them with studies. reach out to them if you see them struggling. be there for them. 7/7
