reject modernity, embrace 1990s metro centre interiors
rip metroland i wanna run 2 u
one of my favourite parts of the 80s/90s metro centre is "the village", a section of the mall designed to look like a traditional village street!! afaik it is still there but it doesn't look as gd as it used to, they've dialled down a lot of the decor
this is also where all the goth shops ended up for some reason
another fave is the "mediterranean village", which housed a bunch of mediterranean restaurants. i can't find any gd pics online, but there were loads of figures in the upstairs rooms of the restaurants posed in dramatic scenes wearing spanish/greek/italian outfits
probably the most iconic part of the metro centre (after metroland ofc) was the clockworks food court!! i only went a few times as a kid, i just remember it being bright & full of plants & pastel colours - but again there are v few gd pics online !
also the uci cinema 🤤🤤
there are some v gd pics here: https://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-chronicle-9c96/20180612/281767039926826
