If there is one recommendation I could make to EDH from my time in cEDH, would be more efficient removal.
The downsides are there but when it comes down to the game itself, trust me 4 life is irrelevant half the time, and a 3/3 is better than an active oracle of mul daya any day.

This will allow you to not only respond to threats but leave open mana to develop your own game plan, and in the case of U tables, leaves you more mana open for counter spells.

Like if your finishers are Crater Hoof or Avenger of Zendikar or literally any kind of 3-4 card infinite, the draw backs don’t matter at all.
