Force Incident Managers & armed officers have to make a reasonable assumption, based on the information available, that the reported firearm is real.

This is a real Glock 17 pistol:
We know, from previous experience, that criminals will sometimes paint their weapons to make them appear like toys or replicas.

Now, here’s the ‘toy gun’ the young boy in this story was playing with:
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand why the report from a member of public was taken seriously.

Police responded accordingly and in line with their training, securing subject, making an investigative assessment and negating the threat.
What this story highlights is the stupidity of a mother for buying her son a replica of a real firearm.

She brought this on herself and should stick to buying super soakers or Nerfs for her son in future.
In summary, there was NO racial profiling and this story from the @standardnews simply adds to the current anti-police narrative.

They must be so proud.
