On the teaching service 🧵 A short week for me, a long month for residents.
We did #feedback in the #Just1Thing style.
1 good thing, 1 concern. Here’s what your #NextGenPCPs said
and what I learned #meded 1/
1 good thing, “I’m using agenda setting skills at the bedside, like what I’ve learned in the clinic. Before leaving the bedside, we review the plan for the day.” #Just1Thing Transferable Skill #agedaSetting respects the patient in all settings. 2/
1 concern, “I need to trust but verify. After getting a verbal report that something important was ordered, I will still include it on my to do list to make sure it’s happening.” #Just1Thing “ #Better is possible. It does not take genius. It takes diligence,” @Atul_Gawande
I shared mine. With every intervention we proposed, we took a good look at the balance of benefits and harms. Sometimes we went with no new intervention. That was cool.
And my concern. Although I teach Never Worry Alone, I’m not so good at managing conflicting recommendations. I think my strategy has to be to talk to specialists directly more often. #just1Thing
