The thread that literally nobody asked for: Warhammer 40k factions represented in classical music.
First of all, the imperial guard/astra militarum. Lots of brass. Lots of bass. Whatever the opposite of subtle is. Has to be the Pines of Rome (IV).

Space marines/adeptus astartes. Could this really be anything other than the Verdi requiem? Specifically thinking of assault marines jumping from above. Although...
Specific shout out to the White Scars (and Deathwing I suppose) with an underappreciated piece by Jan Sandstrom. Yes, really. And it works.
In a similar vein, I did wonder about something more electronic for the Tau, but considering the rapid pace of development I felt like some John Adams was appropriate:
Chaos space marines are impossible to sum up in one piece, but I feel like Mosolov is perfect for the Iron Warriors, and not a bad fit for the whole faction. Brutal, brutal stuff.
Eldar were another difficult one to pick, but there's something so deliciously melancholy, fatalistic, and somehow crunchy about this piece. The whole work by Johann Johannsson is astounding, but this part in particular feels very aeldari.
Tyranids. The most terrifying thing of all.
Dark eldar could only really be one thing, and naturally it has abduction in the title. The Rite of Spring could be used for so many factions, but thought it was most appropriate here.
I could have chosen SO MANY things for the Sisters of Battle/Adeptus Sororitas, but settled on this eardrum-shattering Gloria by Castagnet. Imagine the organ firing volleys of missiles into battle. Yes, that's can(n)on.
Necrons were hard to pin down, again due to limiting this to classical (ie analogue) music, but I think there's something of the deep, cosmic terror in Ligeti that feels very necron to me.
And finally, orks. They take so much joy from life that this is what I imagine is playing in all their little numbskull heads, even as they're mown down by blast weapons.
