///LGBT representation in cartoons/games.
A thread by yours truly

I fucking hate when people use LGBT characters as a way to just go "look, we have an lgbt representation!!" and use it for clout and attention.
If being gay is a character trait, your character isn’t special. It’s not even a character, might as well be just a walking flag.
If you want any sort of representation, don’t even say anything about the character’s sexuality/gender. Let the character have an actual story and personality. You aren’t telling yourself to make a *gay* character. You just.. make one and see where you end up next.
That’s one of the few reasons why is hate games like Dream Daddy. It had such a bad LGBT representation and it hurts to know people still defend it for being "fun" even if it’s just a normal dating novel.
One show I can think of that did the LGBT community well is OK KO. Get this, Enid isn’t centered around being bisexual, yet, she is, and we only knew about it MUCH later in the seasons. It only came up once because her actual character and personality are what mattered most.
Making a visual novel ONLY AROUND homosexuality to increase the amount of clout for being accepting (even if being gay is at least 90% normalized nowadays) is absolutely ridiculous.
This isn’t against people who do like Dread Daddy, it’s just an opinion I’m willing to put on Twitter because it crossed my mind last night.
