I hate to subtweet my friends but this is a general point that IMO always applies: you should not name, quote and directly link to things that you despise, especially when they still have less power and influence than you. You end up elevating them in the process
justifiably angry, retaliatory responses towards motivated haters becomes an entire playbook for them to build their brand by piggybacking on your pain and frustration
this is a known playbook that these people use. they want you to get mad. they want you to call them out. and sometimes there comes a point where not talking about it is worse. but be mindful and strategic. think ahead https://twitter.com/swiftonsecurity/status/896794613062807553?s=21 https://twitter.com/swiftonsecurity/status/896794613062807553
I suppose to be more precise I would revise the original statement to be: before making an utterance about something or someone, consider their motives, their goals, & how they might be using you to achieve them. Just be mindful of that
your words have *power*. you determine what you focus on, and indirectly, what your peers focus on, too https://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1160746630838009856?s=21 https://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1160746630838009856
