Music Lovers, Pls Read:
Shots from my first time in a venue since March. The longest I've ever gone without a gig since I was 14. If there weren't so many people around (and a deadly virus too) I would have kissed the ground. We were soundchecking ahead of tonights live show
"Songs From An Empty Room" on RTE2 at 8.30pm. Some of Ireland's best Musicians in venues all across Ireland will be performing a show to raise funds. They're raising for a unique and extremely personal charity. They're raising for the crew. For all the music industry ...
professionals who are facing 18+ months without ANY work. These are people who have bills to pay, families (and dogs) to feed, school books, medicine, you name a bill and it's probably overdue. These are people who have trained hard for decades, mastering the art of what they do,
building their skills and reputation, only for it all to be put on pause. I cannot stress this enough, IF YOU LOVE MUSIC, IF YOU LOVE GIGS, PLEASE SUPPORT THIS CAUSE NOW because if we don't, the gigs that come back, will be without these crew members, and they'll be awful.
This is make or break for live music in Ireland. By donating you'll not only be contribution to the Hardship Fund for the crew, you'll also be supporting Minding Creative Minds. This is a 24/7 Wellbeing & Support Programme for Irish musicians, songwriters, artist managers & event
production crew. You have no idea how long we've needed a programme like this in Ireland. This is all so hard for me to talk about, I was facing a year of tours, and festivals (including my beloved Glastonbury). For me though, I've been able to point my lens at other things and
keep busy, other roadies don't have this option. All they can do is wait and try to ride it out. Everyone who worked on the crew of "Songs From An Empty Room" including the musicians, did it for free, to raise awareness and vital funds. It was amazing seeing so many
beautiful faces yesterday (well, with masks!) including loads of Hozier crew. Please consider donating, Text SONGS to 50300 to donate €4. It's seriously less than the price of a pint, sure haven't you always wanted to buy a really class Sound Engineer, Lighting Director...
Music Photographer, Guitar Tech etc a pint for ages?! Now's your chance to say thanks!
