So how are state police protecting their personnel from #COVID? What measures have been taken to ensure the smooth functioning of the police force, which has to be active at all times (Even amid a pandemic).

Here is a thread containing info of Delhi, Haryana and Kerala police.
DELHI POLICE

Strength - 73863 (civil) + 8327 (reserves)
PS - 209
+ve cases - 800

Delhi Police has special/extra duties like protection of Diplomat's avenue, Lutyen's Delhi, 7 RCR etc so it has to be extra vigilant. Also, it was delhi where Tabhligi Jamat was exposed
PS staff has been divided into 3 parts

1. those w admin work are not allowed to go outside the PS

2. those w field duties, they are not allowed inside PS.
Arrangements have been made in nearby hotels

3. Emergency staff - who have to enter PS work in isolated areas within PS
* Visitors are not allowed inside PS. Tents have been. pitched outside for public interaction
* 15% of the total civ police has been kept in quarantine as reserves
* Staff above 55 yrs have been shifted to admin jobs and are asked not to leave the PS.
* Less no. of arrests
* Delhi Pol partnered with @moayush & provided masks & other precautionary medicines.
* Health centres have been set-up at police colonies
* SOP formed for daily temp checks for all the staff
* Facilities for online consultation w doctors
* Reserved bed in pvt hospital for police
* Special teams to administer the admission of +ve police personnel to the hospitals
* WhatsApp group for the +ve patients, they can drop their complains on the group
* Zoom meeting & WebX calls rather than physical 121 meeting
* Weekly webinars for personnel by doctors
KERALA POLICE
Strength - 35757 + 5657 (Dist armd) + 7446 (state armd)
PS - 541
+ve cases - 46

On 31 Jan 2020 first #COVID +ve of India was detected in Kerala and now we know what's happening.
* Estb. temporary detention centres in every disct where arrested ppl are kept. These are manned by 1 SI & 1 CT. Aim is to avoid bringing ppl to the PS
* 50% rule- where 50% of PS staff works for 7 days & the other half is on quarantine.
* 417 movies shot to spread awareness
* Some disct have reserve PS staff, idea is to replace w a person with the same skills (eg- stenographer for a stenographer)
* Below the ranks of ADG L&O, daily calls to those put in quarantine or the +ve patients. This is to assure that police dept stands with them.
* There are 9 Police hospitals in Kerala. A large chunk of the hospital staff has been directed to visit the homes of police personnel for check ups
* Kerala Police was the first state police to set SOP for postmortem, interrogation, picket mgmt amidst COVID
HARYANA POLICE
Strength - 42889 + 3,760 (armd reserves)
PS - 361
+ve cases - 461
* In the initial months of COVID outbreak, 2 oranges were given to every staff daily, and everyone was asked to stand in the sun for at least an hour. These measures were taken to ensure personnel get apt amounts of vitamins C, D and others
* Maintaining a shift of only 8 hours.
* of the total strength, 26k personnel have been assigned to COVID related duties
* those above 52 or those who have some medical history have been advised to stay home
* also pitched tents outside PS with plastic screens for separation. Tents are manned by 1 ASI and 1 CT
* 1200 cadets (400 SI cadets & 800 CT cadets) have been taken out of the academy & have been deployed for duties across the state. This phase will be counted as their district training & attachments
CONCLUDING THIS THREAD, aim of the police is force preservation and at the same time carry out COVID duties. Cannot afford to have a major chunk of police personnel in hospital.
