1. How DA is calculated?
DA in banks is calculated quarterly.
It is based on CPI IW(Consumer price index -Industrial worker) published by Labour bureau which is under Minister of Labour & Employment
DA for next quarter is based on previous three quarters as per below table.(2/n)

As per above table , average index is for 328 for Jan ,Feb,Mar 20 for DA calculation of May ,June ,July 20.
Why Aug ,Sept ,Oct 20 DA % is yet not out by Unions because June month index points are published on last date of july.(last day of succeeding month usually)(3/n)

This index points of each month you can check from the labour bureau site & dates are also given in advance.
Here one thing to notice , the index we are talking about is for the base year 2001 i.e on 2001 index was 100 now it is 326 for March 2020 (4/n)

In banks Index are linked to 1960
(For Central govt employee base year is 2001 ,they don& #39;t go back to 1960)
To go to yr 1982 from 2001 base, multiply it with 4.93 & further to yr 1960 multiply with 4.63.
As per average index of Jan Feb March 20 is 7486.90 for base 1960.. (5/n)

Out of 7486.90 index points in last BPS (10th) points 4440 were merged , so DA can& #39;t be given on these points.
So remains index points are 3046.90
Each 4 points = 1 slab coz the points are yearly and we have to bring it to quarterly .
3046.90 points = 761.72 slabs (6/n)
So remains index points are 3046.90

Again each slab has weightage of 0.10%
Hence 761.72 = 76.10 %(761.72* 0.1.%) is your present DA %
How the weight is defined .
It is decided at each BPS.
Last BPS it was 0.10% ,hence we are using 0.10%
This BPS (11th) weight will further reduced to 0.07%.. let& #39;s know how.(7/n)

It was decided to take average index 6352 (1960)averaging June, July ,Aug16.(IBA note)
Same way deduct 4440 points already merged in 10th BPS.
Points remains 1912 , bring it to quarterly i.e 478 slabs .
Use weight of 10th BPS i.e 0.10% for each slab . Result is 47.80% ...(8/n)

47.80% is proposed 2 merged with your Basic. Now come to weight of DA.Working of weight is as per below table
The weight got reduced to 0.07% (30% less than previous BPS)
Logic is DA is already merged in basic if you give the same weight then it& #39;s illogical.(9/n)

DA merged 47.80%
Balance 3.80%

Guys this is the process.
- Special pay , HRA , CCA % yet to come & is under discussion.
Once the % is out ,clear picture will come & actual increment can be acertained.
