Alright, let’s begin then.
Thread 1 for Call of Duty Black Ops 3.

The Background and the events that lead up to the game.

Okay, a little info here - Black Ops is a sub unit or a sub franchise of the Call of Duty series. Unlike The Modern Warfare series ++

The Black Ops series is all about two things

1. The Cold War
Meaning that Black Ops 1 is set during the period of the First Cold War and it revolves around the team of a CIA operative named Alex Mason who partners with a JSOC operative named Frank Woods ++

and his CIA handler, Jason Hudson to stop a planned terror attack on the American soil that has been planned out by the antagonist named Nikita Dragovich.
Long story short : Mason succeeds in killing Dragovich and thwarting the attack.

Black Ops 2 meanwhile is set in 2025 during the events of the fictional Second Cold War between China and the US.
The protagonist in charge here is a man named David Mason who happens to be the son of Alex Mason, the protagonist of Black Ops 1. ++

The enemy here is this man, Raul Menendez who is a Nicaraguan drug peddler and later goes on to become a terrorist with a following in billions.
Yep, this guy.
What this guy does is that he attacks the US of A in this Cold War and given that his following is in billions ++

He uses it to stage an uprising within the US and outside it.
Either way, he too is defeated in the end and the player is given a choice to either kill him or to spare his life and let him rot in a prison.

Now then, on to the interesting part.
So, this Raul Menendez, while attacking the US, what he did as his final resort was that he used a “Drone Strike” in order to kill the leaders of a summit known as the G20 summit.
Yep, the leaders in this summit were either ++

were either the presidents or the prime ministers of their nations who had gotten together in this summit to find a way out to defeat Menendez.

This summit was carried out in Los Angeles and so was the Drone Strike.
Here are a few pictures as taken from the Campaign mode.

Either way, once the strike was averted, Menendez was then traced to the country of Haiti.
It is in this country that he is captured by David Mason and can be killed or spared depending upon the player.

Now, keep in mind this “Drone Strike” event. It’s kind of important here ++

So that was the Cold War thing.
The second thing that the Black Ops series has is its reliance on “Covert Military Warfare” rather than an all out military attack as seen in the Modern Warfare series.

Okay, so this wraps up the storyline up to the year 2025.

Okay, now for the post Cold War 2 storyline.
So if you recall, I mentioned how Raul Menendez initiated a “Drone Strike” on the leaders of the G20 and was defeated. However, this instilled fear in the people concerning the use of “Aerial Warfare and Drones.” ++

As a result, the militarised nations of the world installed and began the use of the D.E.A.D system. The abbreviation D.E.A.D here stands for “Directed Energy Air Defense” which was meant to provide defense against the use of Aerial Warfare especially the drones. ++

Very soon, the rest of the world followed and as a result, post 2025, Aerial Warfare was now rendered useless due to the use of D.E.A.D systems and later on, any sort of military conflicts between two nations would be carried out not on the battlefield but covertly ++

covertly as in behind the lines where one country would send its “Black Ops agents” disguised as spies to sabotage the internal working of their enemy country.

Now, if you recall, Menendez had initiated this drone strike and had called for an assault on the leading nations ++

of the world, as a result of which there followed several consequences, the two most important of them being -

1. Conventional and Aerial Warfare was rendered useless as explained and any kind of military offensive was now carried out covertly via the use of Black Ops agents ++

These Black Ops agents were now “augmented” or enhanced with prosthetics and technology to enable them to carry out their missions. One such technology was the DNI or the Direct Neural Interface (more on that later).

That was for the DNI part. Now, the primary function that was served by the DNI was to enable Neural Interface Communication as in “Thought to Thought sharing” amongst the members of a team to enable them to plan out an attack on their enemy in real time. ++

The DNI also enabled the user to carry out attacks such as Hacking into a group of robots and turning them against one another, hacking into technologies and most importantly, hacking into the minds of their DNI wearing enemies to retrieve their memories ++

2. There was an increased amount of reliance on the usage of “Robots and Unmanned Drones” for Warfare as compared to sending soldiers to directly face one another on the battlefield.

And

3. The most important of all was the breaking up of the European Union ++

Yes, post 2025, the European Union/the EU began to crumble and the countries under it began to quit on their EU membership, a consequence of the Menendez Drone Strike and the loss of faith in the world leadership that followed along with the onset of recession ++

the recession which hit various countries real bad leading them to change their existing alliances and branch out in order to form newer alliances with various other countries.

As a result, post 2025, a lot of the European Countries as I mentioned left EU ++

This over the years resulted in the formation of two very strong military alliances/factions.

Faction 1 : The Common Defense Pact / The CDP.
This faction primarily consisted of the Russians along with a very small number of European countries and a very large number ++

and a very large number of South African countries.

Faction 2 : The Winslow Accord/ The WA
This faction consists of the US of A along with an over whelming majority of former European countries that gave up on their EU membership.

These factions began forming ++

began forming in the year 2035 and were completed by the year 2065 when Germany and Italy defected from the CDP to join the Winslow Accord.

We good so far?? Okay, let’s move ahead then.

Now, onto the primary plot points that lead to the events of Black Ops 3. ++

“The NRC Egypt War” :
A little background first..

1. The NRC or the Nile River Coalition is a group of African countries that are backed by the CDP here

whereas

2. Egypt in this world of Black Ops 3 is backed by the Winslow Accord ++

However, this backing provided to Egypt by the Winslow Accord is kind of “loose, lax or you could say lazy and not up to the mark” and as a result of which, it becomes a topic of heavy criticism in the countries that form a part of The Winslow Accord.

Getting back ++

The NRC Egypt War broke out when the NRC post 2035 began to take control over the Nile River which flowed through a territory that was common to both - The NRC and Egypt.
The NRC began with building dams and aquifers to harvest the water of the river Nile ++

for their own gains over the years. This in turn hurt the Egyptians real bad leading to the occurrence of famines and droughts in the country followed by a lot of casualties.
As a result of this, the Egyptians who were now fed up of the NRC declared a war against them ++

in the year 2059.
However, what the Egyptians didn’t take into account was the fact that the NRC had better weapons and military strength thanks to the firm backing provided to them by the CDP as compared to the loose and lazy backing provided to the Egyptians by the Winslow ++

by the Winslow Accord.
As a result, this war that broke out in 2059 carried in for 4 years without any result right up to 2062.
Now, in 2063, there occurred yet another drought in Egypt, the worst of all perhaps and this in turn led to mass scale rioting and civil unrest ++

in the country.
Combine this with the fact that the Egyptian military had been fighting the NRC for 4 years and you have what I call a severely weakened nation along with a severely weakened army.
As a result, the Egyptian army began its retreat in 2063 ++

Seeing the Egyptians retreat, the NRC now attacked Egypt and began to conquer its territory very rapidly up until the point where the only piece of land left untouched by the NRC was Cairo in Egypt.
The Egyptian army as a result retreated to Cairo and installed ++

and installed the D.E.A.D systems to prevent the NRC from using Aerial Warfare to their advantage.

HOWEVER, a mole in the Egyptian ranks very soon defected to the NRC and he provided the folks there with all the information needed to disable the Egyptian Defense ++

As a result of this, the NRC literally cake walked over the Egyptians and took over the territory of Cairo from them as well.

Seeing this invasion reach its objective, The Winslow Accord led by the US of A finally woke up from its slumber and pledged immediate support ++

pledged immediate support to the Egyptians and their army as a result of which the Egyptians were able to carry out a counter attack and drive out the NRC from their territories.

Note : This counterattack began in the year 2065.

After putting the NRC on the defensive ++

on the defensive, thanks to the support of the Winslow Accord, the Egyptians finally drove the NRC out of their territory and restricted their presence to a “multi apartmental complex” known as “The Lotus Towers” in Cairo, Egypt.
Once they did that, a civilian uprising ++

led by Lieutenant Zayed Khalil the Egyptian army was brought into play at the Lotus Towers which led to the killing of a very high ranking prominent figure in the NRC military.
This was pretty much the final blow.
The NRC now in full retreat however managed to capture 2 people ++

The 2 people captured were

1. An injured Lieutenant Khalil, the very same man who led the uprising and

2. Egyptian Prime Minister “Said”

The NRC now captured these two, took them back to their territory and announced that they had plans to make an example out of the two by executing them publicly in the month of October 2065.

As a result of this, the Winslow Accord now ++

The Winslow Accord now sends a team led by Jacob Hendricks and which includes our “Player” to disguise themselves as NRC agents and carry out a prompt rescue of Minister Said before he is executed.

This is where the game begins...
