This would allow the public to review, install, and enforce code that would actually get Taproot live, instead of waste time bikeshedding and negotiating with people frustrating the process.

That said, it is probably safer to assume a new handle yourself, I'm just offering some provenance of my WoT, and willingness to put up with the public bullshit as a human shield.
