Story time for new ARMY, gather 'round!

Once up on time, ARMY used to participate in every poll, to help BTS win everything, no matter what. That energy, that intent, is wholesome & good.

But after a while we learned a few things that changed us.

We learned that western media realized they could use ARMY to get clicks on their content in large numbers, which helps their business. Clicking on the content brings engagement metrics that make them money, so they put out content hoping ARMY will click: https://twitter.com/BSTforBTS/status/1055855284143312896?s=20

We learned that western media - mostly @/billboard, but there are others *cough* FIFA poll *cough* - would use that content to stoke fanwars, & ARMY even started to guilt trip each other over the results of these polls, spamming/yelling under replies about losing or being "lazy".

Media outlets would stoke fanwars to get MORE engagement, and ARMY fell into the trap again and again, panicking bc we wanted every win for BTS, and they knew it, and used us for it. Without giving anything in return.

Because you see, the polls had ZERO actual benefit for BTS...

We learned that those polls didn't help w/charting, or streaming, or album sales, or awards, or...even exposure. Bc nobody in the music industry outside of bb's wallet cares about the results. They have no meaning, & don't help BTS. And if it doesn't benefit BTS, WE DONT WANT IT.

As a result of these polls & other mistreatment, many ARMY have @/billboard blocked, & many are now careful to examine ALL voting for BTS to decide not if BTS should win - bc we all want them to win - but if it will truly benefit BTS, bc we want our energy & time to benefit BTS.

So if you want to vote for things like @/billboard & radio polls, nobody is going to stop you. But if you try to claim the results benefit @BTS_twt or that it matters if we win/lose, ppl are going to stop you. Bc we learned the hard way to stop engaging with that type of content.

And if you're thinking, "but then someone else will win" the answer is, yes. They'll be the winners of nothing, in a music industry that cares nothing about the nothing they just won. They can win nothing all day long, but for BTS? BTS deserves something. BTS deserves the best.
