URGENT: @GovAbbott you need to start airlifting patients to El Paso, Houston & Dallas now.

You need to put in place stay at home orders until mid-August.

@fema must provide planes to start airlifting people.

Please make sure this is seen. Will start making calls in the AM. https://twitter.com/cnn/status/1286874590300516354
This is a tough situation, being described as “our backs up against the wall.” These patients should all be seen in bigger hospitals— not local or field hospitals.

It’s 1:10 am & I’m trying to wake people up.

I wrote about this last night.

Morning update: have spoken or texted with the White House, a governor’s advisor, an infectious disease team on the ground, and have messages into hospitals.

People are talking and I’m hopeful that means action.
I was asked if the people dying in the Rio Grande Valley have “come across the border.”

I was also told that local officials who don’t like Gov Abbott may be lying about the gravity of the situation.

I worry that those 2 statements are influencing actions to help people.
And so I’m reminded of this 45 second comment from @larrybrilliant about why this happens.

I’ve talked to several neighboring states. They are willing to help.

Offering & accepting help is the best of our country.
The state lays this on local health authorities. To be frank, I’m finding the story shifting.
I don’t think this is the most important metric. Keep pushing on the mask mandate & help the RGV and other trouble spots and your businesses will soon thrive as the death rate drops.
