I have some thoughts on this, and most of the thoughts don’t have to do with actually answering the question, but instead have to do with exploring other facets that can inform the decision a person makes in regards to this:

1. We’re instructed very little in the scriptures regarding what/how to eat. The WoW says nothing about what a healthy weight entails or about keeping a good BMI. It may go against other light and knowledge to overeat, but against the WoW? I don’t think so.

2. If we want to talk about the WoW, when was the last time you had watermelon in the spring? Or an orange in July? Or meat anytime but the winter?

My point is that if the WoW is interpreted so narrowly, very few of us are actually keeping it at all.

4. I definitely think that we should always do our best to be our healthiest, but being healthy is not as simple as maintaining a “caloric deficit.” I sincerely hope that the wives of these men who are saying being overweight is a sin never gain

weight during a pregnancy or just turn 30 and have their metabolism start slowing down. I would hate to be judged and be told I’m sinning by my husband for something I never chose.
