Some @WildfireGame stats I found interesting:
- 88% of players have finished the tutorial
- 35% have made it past the first environment (5 in total)
- 7% have finished the game once
- 1% have finished the game in co-op
- More players have finished New Game+ than played co-op
Some things to draw from this:
- Most players will only experience the first hour of your game
- Most games that only last an hour will be heavily criticised for being too short
- Players LOVE the idea of co-op. Most will not engage with it. Understandable in current conditions
- Wildfire's player verbs exponentially open up and increase over time. Every new environment has new powers, and new enemies
- A consistent critique is there's not enough options early on
- If we did differently I feel we would have overloaded players with options too early
- If we had compressed the full player verbs, options, and complexity into the first hour, we'd be left without new elements to introduce over the remaining playtime
- If the vast majority of players only experience the first hour...does the above point even matter? I dont know.
