It’s been long apparent that certain forces within @UNSomalia and @UKinSomalia were interested in 1P1V for purely marketing reasons despite the prevailing security and political environment that’s not conducive to such an ambitious electoral program.
The last 3.5 years have produced a terribly chaotic and toxic political and governance outcomes for Somalia due to the belligerence and authoritarian bents of the current gov’t. An extension & 1P1V fantasies are a dangerous way to reward bad behaviors & will have consequences

@UNSomalia’s statement today sets a dangerous precedence and could spiral things out of control. Rather than send dangerous signals to a beleaguered president hellbent on an extension, @UNSomalia should have allowed Somali stakeholders to deliberate and arrive at a consensus.
If @M_Farmaajo acting through his proxies in parliament impede the Galmudug Talks or harm the spirt of the talks, @UNSomalia bears a substantial responsibility for emboldening term extension & ensuing chaos. Today’s statement was illogical, unreasonable & highly counterproductive
