Let’s rebut this thread, shall we? @AdrianaLaGrange

The NDP costed their plan. If it’s not feasible, it’s because your govt cut funding to education and gave billions to corporations. As a govt, your duty is to get the job done, not make excuses. https://twitter.com/adrianalagrange/status/1286773576754814976
Re: classroom space. Several universities across the province will be mostly empty this Fall. If you had done some actual planning instead of downloading all responsibility onto school boards, perhaps you could have negotiated with unis to use that space.
Or, you could have repurposed space in Rec centres. These are just two options that I thought of in seconds and while dealing with a migraine. You have a team of people who I’m sure could come up with excellent alternatives if only you provided the leadership to do so.
In terms of hiring extra staff, well there are 20,000 EAs that were laid off a couple of months ago thanks to you. They could work with teams of teachers to support student learning.
Plus, there are a huge number of recent BEd grads from the 10 teacher education programs in the province that would love to have a job.
I thought of these solutions in mere minutes. You’ve had months to plan and organize. Your job is not to say what’s not possible. Your job is to create possibilities and solve problems. If you’re not up for the challenge, resign and let someone else do the job.
Or, try stepping out of your partisanship toxicity and work with the NDP to creatively solve problems together. In the end, what matters is what’s best for kids, teachers, and staff in schools. Rise above your petty partisanship and “can’t do” attitude and do your job.
