this is a decent thread, however, as someone who doesn& #39;t text frequently or is often quiet, we still uh. at least need to tell folks What& #39;s up sometimes bc that& #39;s what& #39;s Fair to a friendship. we can& #39;t let folks sit and expect them to be ok w it either, that& #39;s not cool at all https://twitter.com/jasidic/status/1286116041781850113">https://twitter.com/jasidic/s...
yes folks like me need space, or are more active on websites then anything else. honestly? i spend less energy typing into the void then 1-1 convos. however, if i leave folks hanging with no explanation, is that fair to them bc it& #39;s comfortable to me?
the answer: no, it& #39;s not. i& #39;ve lost people this way, expecting people to just Know that i& #39;ll come back. shit don& #39;t work that way, you need to be upfront and let new and old friends know that you pop in and out of responding. you don& #39;t have to give your full life story-
-but a hey! i have trouble doing X, i& #39;m still here tho! is good enough for most folk. additionally, it& #39;s also not a free pass for folks like me to not be responsive to avoid a social mishap i& #39;ve created and claim it self care. i& #39;ve done it, ive seen it done, it& #39;s shitty.
i worry abt these posts bringing back old tumblr "self care" routines that get ambiguously applied to every situation that allowed for a lot of "i& #39;m only taking care of Me" mentalities when, socially, it& #39;s more complicated then that.
but that& #39;s just my 2 cents on it
