Let's start with the fact that the album it's divided in 3 main group of colors that are the basic colors:
- Light blue
- Red
- Golden-ish yellow.
even though these are the basic colors, the relation between the colors was thoughtfully done and i'll talk about it later.

Katy is in the "center" of the album, we can locate the middle a little bit lower of the nostrils, which makes the eye look at the mouth which it's the main point and it was "highlighted" with use of the color red, which it's also an analogous color of the golden-ish yellow.
In fact some colors have more visual weight than others, so if per example we change the color the makeup, the picture as a whole becomes unbalanced and it makes that the main symbolism gets kind of lost in the image.
If we return to the original color the image becomes balanced again, right?, now, what will it happen if we change the color of the background?
If we change the background color to, per example, a brightest blue or red the image becomes overwhelming to look at and unbalanced.
As you may notice, there's an aura around Katy, which is a degrade of colors that helps to make a smoother transition between Katy and the background, who's in a warm color and the background, a cold color.
So what happens if we remove the aura? Again, there's an imbalance in the picture and also there's a fight for the background and Katy to outweigh each other.
And this happens because the different color schemes can give us a handful of visual effects that will help us to mix correctly the relationship between colors.
Knowing the previous point and how the colors are divided in the image, the relationship between the main figure and the background it's complementary.
And here's where the transition aura starts playing its role, making the transition between Katy's shoulder and the background with a split complementary scheme.
The nails and the make up form an analogous scheme.
Almost every color scheme group was present in the composition of the album.
Almost every color scheme group was present in the composition of the album.
Returning to a starting point, let's define bilateral symmetry "Bilateral symmetry is defined by the existence of a single plane, which divides the body of an organism into approximately two specifically identical halves, called the left half and the right half."
And of course you may know this, since 99% of the animals and humans are symmetrical but I wanted you to remember this because the symmetry was used in its maximum splendor, to give the viewer an unique focal point.
It is also important to add that this image has structural strength because the way in which the hands and shoulders are raised, generates a triangle that gives us virtual stability.
In conclusion, i think that this album cover was done well and it has an incredible composition not only because the usage of the colors but also every element that they used to mix everything together.
