The CDC published propaganda yesterday pushing that schools must to be opened for the greater good of the child. It repeats several times that Covid isn't as dangerous for children, and stresses the dangers of children not getting enough exercise or social interaction. 1/8
It uses several angles to push the importance of in-person education, ignores the relative value of distance learning, and deliberately underplays the family risks of children bring Covid into the home by instead focusing on the effects of the disease only on the children. 2/8
The document is deliberately constructed to push the President's agenda of fully opening the schools in the Fall, and is intellectually dishonest in the biases it exhibits in the presentation. 3/8
If you're concerned about the dangers of households getting infected with Covid due to an infection brought home from school, you won't find that the document has much to say about it. 4/8
The CDC released a second document yesterday, entitled 'Preparing K-12 School Administrators for a Safe Return to School in Fall 2020' which contains the key line "More research is needed on SARS-CoV-2 transmission between children and household members." 5/8
This is vitally important because while they can tout the positive effects of school all they want, if they don't actually know the risks that open schools will present to the families, the grandparents, the co-workers, and the country, then it's just a piece of propaganda. 6/8
