Dear America,

This is the coming shitstorm you should care about, and not all this other stupid shit: https://twitter.com/CBSNews/status/1286808340895539201
I'm one of those conservatives who believe in fiscal prudence.

I complained about all the years we spent money to juke the economy when the economy was doing OK.

A big believer in rainy day surpluses.

I totally get it.

But none of it matters right now.
It doesn't matter whether we like it or not, now is the time to bail out Americans who, through no fault of their own, are going hungry and are about to become homeless by the millions.

Suck it up and do better next time.
Homelessness was already at toxic levels in the midst of unemployment at historic lows.

Don't cry about politics. People are going to be on the street.

Even more than 2008, now is the time to prevent a complete collapse of the economy.
It's not just homelessness, as if that isn't enough. It ripples through the landlord class and through the banking system and suddenly your employer, assuming you have one, can't beg steal or borrow working capital.

We need to send immediate relief to renters who are out of time
If you want to exclude social security recipients, fine. I could use a hamburger, but whatever. The issue is people about to end up on the street as Republicans and Democrats and media dick around with shit like AOC's hurt feels.
Hey, so, there were moratoriums on rent. Cool shit. Well done, Dems.

OK, class, what's the unintended consequence in that, down the line?

Any John Lee Hooker fans out there?
It's not even a moral hazard, although perhaps it is for some. More than anything, it's wishing away how the world works for a few months, and the world starts working again like a motherfucker on steroids when the moratorium expires.
