I worry about retaliation for my advocacy against the bar exam during COVID-19 constantly. I don't want to be inauthentic. I am constantly concerned that speaking out will be used against me, whether it be in a character & fitness capacity for my bar license or for employment.
I'm speaking out on behalf law students b/c (1) most people are afraid to on the record, (2) disabled students collectively cannot afford to take an in-person test during the pandemic, & (3) the online exam methods are unjust, unfair, & impractical. It's an economic nightmare.
So to this, I'd say that I respect those who work for the Boards and Bar Associations. We simply have a significant disagreement as to how we are being treated during this bar exam process & disabled students have been significantly adversely impacted. I really care about others.
I do not mean to disrespect anyone involved. I have simply shared my view of what is happening, how I believe bar examinees are being discriminated against (both socioeconomically & via the disabled/immunocompromised), & I am disappointed in the responses (or lack of) given.
The silence of the @NCBEX bothers me. The fact that the Florida Board of Bar Examiners is refusing to allow us to use scratch paper without opening a dialog with us is frustrating. Our law schools who we paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to have not done enough to support us.
Deans say in private that they support us, but they had a meeting last Tuesday at 5PM ET and we were not as students debriefed. We rely on second-hand knowledge and scarce released information. The FBBE & Florida law schools haven't been fully transparent about the exam process.
The Deans to my knowledge point to how they gave a form of diploma privilege as an "option" to the Florida Supreme Court to consider during COVID-19. But they're not speaking publicly in support of diploma privilege specifically, or against restroom & scratch paper restrictions.
We paid hundreds of thousands of dollars each in tuition and fees to our law schools, the FBBE, & the Bar to take this test to become licensed. We deserve more information as to what is going on than we are getting. The test is weeks away in August. We aren't adequately prepared.
It's hard to run a race when you're given a blindfold, a new course, and the finish line keeps moving. That's how it feels to us.

I'm respectfully asking for more transparency, more support, & more empathy so we can get licensing we need to work to uphold the law in our state.
I don't want it confused: I do not wish ill-will on anyone who has an adverse opinion. I just want my position and motives to be clear. I am asking for a fair, safe, & non-discriminatory licensing process so Florida will have more lawyers to assist in gov't work & private sector.
This will be huge, especially because of the immense issues in Florida due to our unprecedented COVID-19 outbreaks. This will impact homelessness, financial issues, unemployment, liability issues, and other legal concerns that the government & FL residents will need lawyers for.
And one mistake I make all the time when I tweet is I call us students. We are not students. We are test-takers in employment limbo. We were told to set aside $15,000 or more to subsidize our test preparation, & then our test was moved, changed entirely, & made more complicated.
We just want to get to work. We know that work isn't always fun, but at least it means we have the license to apply for the positions that can adequately pay our loans back & begin our careers defending people & upholding the Constitution. @DiplomaPriv4All @BarPetition
