1. Black people have a Jewish constituency just like white people. In fact, every single racial group on the planet has a Jewish constituency. We are a minority within a minority within every racial group. 2/

2. While Midrash says Shem was Black, not all of the children of Israel were Black. Abraham’s folks were like Iraqi.

Buuut, Israelite men did marry Black women because... well, what can I say? We’re . Moshe Rabbeinu happened to also be married to lovely Black woman. 3/

So, there were Black and non-Black people that comprised the Children of Israel. Jews today, even Ashkenazim, descend from this mixed group of people. Where do you think Afros (“Jew-fros”) come from? Africans. We’re in the bloodline as described in the Tanach. 4/

It only takes one or two generations to look completely white or like any other race. When we dispersed throughout the Earth, we took on the external appearance of our host countries. Inside? Still Jewish. 5/

To say African Americans are true Jews ERASES EVERYTHING we as Jewish people have been through throughout the world. While European Jews take greater offense due to the Nazi Holocaust, please note that there were MANY holocausts around the world that we survived. 6/

Stating that only Black people are Jews and that white Jews are “hiding” it plays into a loooooong history of antisemitic tropes about Jews being thieves, untrustworthy, greedy, etc., all of which lead to our death or to being terrorized by pogroms. 7/

Romani Jews were viewed suspiciously and endured terror from their European neighbors.

Iraqi, Iranian, and other West Asian Jews suffered under authoritarian regimes that lead to death, hunger, and terror. It is estimated that 1.5 million Mizrahi Jews fled to Israel. 8/

East and South Asian Jews endured authoritarian regimes and oppression. The Jewish population remains small because of gruesome antisemitism and due to Jews fleeing to Israel. 9/

European Jewish history is pretty much taught everywhere. 6M Jews and 5.5-7M non-Jews perished all because of hate. Antisemitism is the cause of millions of deaths around the world. 10/

African Jews from Ethiopia to Nigeria have also experienced gruesome antisemitism over the centuries.

Ethiopian and Yemenite Jews have fled to Israel for safety but thousands still remain and suffer as we speak. 11/

Biafran Jews still recount their civil war which began during the same week as the 6-day War in Israel. Some 2-3 million Biafrans perished. Today, the Jewish community is barely several thousand and many converted to Christianity to escape persecution. 12/

Don’t erase our stories. Jews come in all colors. It is antisemitic to deny Jewishness to someone because they’re white and it is equally antisemitic to do the same to non-white Jews. 13/end
