this is so mundane but whatever I'm proud - I have always sucked at doing the dishes. I'd do them if asked, but it was like there was a block in my mind that kept me from doing them of my own accord. So I decided to figure out WHY it was so hard for me to do dishes.
And after I thought about it I realized that damn, I REALLY hate touching wet food. It wasn't just gross, it was viscerally uncomfortable for me. And my brain had decided to compensate for that discomfort by blocking the idea of dirty dishes from my mind.

So I....bought gloves.
It was such a small thing?! But it's made a world of difference. I hated touching wet food, but instead of either punishing my brain for being sensitive or continuing to shirk dishes duty, it turns out there was a simple fix. Gloves created the barrier I needed.
This is less about the gloves (although I recommend them) but I find it very comforting to know that bad habits can be mitigated by actually understanding why your brain does what it does and figuring out how to work with it instead of just being hard on yourself!
